Feature of High Temperature Analysis (4) (Reduction of Organic Solvent)

There is growing trend of eco-friendly projects in various areas, and this trend is not an exception for HPLC analysis. For reversed phase chromatography, typically the retention becomes stronger and the peak shape becomes broader when the ratio of organic solvent is lowered. In contrast, analysis at higher temperature provides improved resolution. Moreover, since the optimal flow rate becomes faster at higher temperature, this makes it possible to use lower organic solvent ratio without causing inferior result that may be observed at ambient temperature condition. Therefore, the higher temperature method is effective for the reduction of organic solvent use; provides environmental friendly analysis.
Following is an application for polymer-based reversed phase chromatography column, ET-RP1 3D. The column has resistance to elevated temperature conditions. This analysis was carried at 150°C. Obtained result provided fast and good separation, even though the mobile phase used was 100% water.
