Analysis of Calcium Acetate Capsules According to USP-NF Method (YK-421)

Calcium acetate is a food additive often used in European and US countries as preservatives and pH adjusting agents, as well as to enhance the nutritional value of the food products.
The USP43-NF38 lists an analysis method for calcium acetate capsules. The method uses a column that is filled with L76 packing material. The system suitability requires the theoretical plate number (TPN) of the calcium ion to be ≥1,000 and the relative standard deviation (RSD) to be ≤2.0%. The analysis using IC YK-421 was confirmed to fulfill all required system suitability conditions.
