PPWR
Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation
PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is the new EU regulation that replaces the previous Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive and establishes harmonized rules for packaging across the European Union.
Its main goal is to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability and reuse, increase recycled content, and support a circular economy while reducing environmental impacts.
The regulation applies to all packaging placed on the EU market and introduces requirements such as recyclable packaging, clearer labeling, packaging minimization, and reuse targets, with most provisions applying from August 2026 onward.
The Shodex column packages were already changed to an eco-friendly design.
1. The package consists entirely of carton; plastic sponge cushion as formerly used is eliminated.
2. Tag material attached to column product body is changed from hard plate to flexible film.
3. Inclusion of “Certificate of Analysis” and “Operational Manual” is abolished, and they are downloaded from a global database to save paper printouts.
